Irrigation service fee (ISF) for fishponds in all national irrigation systems has been approved by the NIA Board of Directors (Resolution No. 7290-04, series of 2004), effective crop year 2005. Fishponds in run-of-the-river systems are charged the equivalent peso value of 5 cavans/hectare/season, in reservoir-backed systems 6 cavans/hectare/season, and in pump systems 15 cavans/hectare/season.
The ISF rate for annual crops has been adjusted to the cash equivalent of 7 1/2 cavans/hectare/annum.
The peso equivalent of the above fees are based on the government support price for paddy.
SALAZAR HEADS SYSTEMS OPERATIONS
Carlos S. Salazar assumed office as Officer-in-Charge of the Office of Assistant Administrator for Systems Operation and Equipment Management on May 17, 2005. He has 28 years of experience in irrigation development and management. He has held various positions, starting as Engineer Trainee at the First Agusan del Sur Irrigation Project in Mindanao. His most recent assignment prior to his designation as head of operations were as Regional Irrigation Manager for the CARAGA Region (Region 13) and Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Irrigation Office for Northern Mindanao (Region 10).
Salazar is a recipient of the Regional Irrigation Manager for the Year award in 2000, 2003 and 2004. He is an agricultural engineer by profession and is known for promoting Sustained System for Irrigated Agriculture for paddy Mindanaowide of which he is the Program Director.
NIA celebrated its 42nd anniversary on the third week of June with the theme
Bagong NIA, Bagong Pag-asa sa Maunlad na Pagsasaka.The occasion was capped by a program on June 24 with Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap as guest of honor. He stressed the need for irrigation to meet the increasing demand for rice by the growing population. He also led the ceremonial inauguration of the Nasig-id Small Reservoir Irrigation Project which is located in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental. read more
